Scholarship Opportunities
MCCF Scholarship Program
Interested applicants are encouraged to review the List of Scholarship Program Funds to learn more about each scholarship opportunity. Eligibility and academic requirements vary by scholarship fund and some do not consider academic achievement. Most scholarships require demonstration of financial need and may be used at accredited colleges, universities, or vocational (trade or technical) schools.
Students apply online using a Common Scholarship Application Form and will be considered for all scholarships for which they may be eligible. Various scholarship advisory committees recommend recipients for consideration and approval by the Community Foundation Board of Directors. Scholarship awards are announced in late spring, generally at high school award ceremonies.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
MCCF expanded scholarship eligibility requirements beginning 2025 in order to consider more area students for scholarship support. Applicant attendance and residency requirements vary by scholarship fund and include the following.
- Graduating seniors who attend one of the following eligible high schools: Bear Lake High School, Brethren High School, CASMAN Academy, Manistee High School, or Onekama High School
- Students graduating from Early Middle College who originated from an eligible high school or who reside in Manistee County
- Manistee County residents who have earned a high school equivalency diploma (GED) or are graduating seniors at a home school, high school located outside of Manistee County, or virtual school
In certain cases, current college students and non-traditional students who reside in Manistee County or who graduated from an eligible high school may also be considered.
Manistee County Community Foundation staff and their family members are not eligible to apply. Advisory committee members involved in the scholarship selection process, and their immediate family members, are not eligible to receive a scholarship from that fund. In addition, donors and related parties are not eligible to receive a scholarship from a fund they established.
Interested applicants are encouraged to review the List of Scholarship Program Funds to learn more about eligibility and selection criteria, which vary by fund.
How to Apply
Scholarship Applications are accepted between January 1 – March 1 each year and must be submitted online using a Common Scholarship Application.
LEARN
Interested applicants should review the List of Scholarship Program Funds to learn more about eligibility and selection criteria, which vary by fund.
APPLY
Applicants must complete and submit a Common Scholarship Application through the MCCF Scholarship Application Portal prior to the March 1st application deadline. After you click the Apply button you'll have an opportunity to preview the application prior to filling it out. Please note that the application uses logic and not all questions in the sample will apply to every applicant.
Note: Applicants will need to create an account prior to beginning an application. An account enables applicants to save their work along the way and complete the application in more than one session as needed.
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The majority of our scholarships require demonstration of financial need. We make this determination based on information contained in the FAFSA. Students must upload their Student Aid Index (SAI) page in their FAFSA, unless they only wish to be considered for merit-based awards. - Transcripts
Applicants must also submit a recent transcript to [email protected].
