Manistee Non-Motorized Trail Park

Campaign Services

The Shoreline Cycling Club (http://www.shorelinecyclingclub.org/) and the City of Manistee's Non-Motorized Transportation Committee (NMOT) are working together to develop trails on the 170 acre property that the City of Manistee owns off of M55 about 3 miles from the M55/US31 intersection. The plan is to build walking/running, mountain bike, and cross country ski trails as well as a mountain bike skills park on the property.

Developing this trail system will server three primary functions:

  • Provide close access for local community members so they can more easily enjoy these fitness activities.
  • Get more local community members involved in hiking, running, cycling and skiing by providing a safe, easy and accessible way of trying these healthy life-long activities.
  • Draw tourists to the City of Manistee area and its neighboring communities. Manistee County has many premium trails already bringing many tourists to the area. These trails are on the perimeter of the County and we are hoping that by developing this trail system can draw them to population center of the county thereby providing a positive economic impact locally. Additionally the trail system should draw new visitors to the area that would not have come otherwise.
Details of our proposal are listed in the draft copy of our trail plan: http://www.manisteemtb.org
