Community Leadership

The Manistee County Community Foundation is privileged to be a place where donors gather and philanthropy comes to life. The Foundation exists to help people be the best they can be, to do the best they can do, and to bring their philanthropic dreams to reality.

An important part of the Foundation's Strategic Plan is to provide strong collaborative leadership and promote partnerships to influence the communitys future direction, economic growth, community pride and unity, and environmental sustainability. Through grant writing support and key organizational partnerships, the Manistee County Community Foundation has been able to help effect positive change in our community.

EnVision Manistee County

In 2006, Manistee County completed its first ever visioning effort, EnVision Manistee County. It was a 16-month effort that involved over 700 participants to develop visions and strategies for the Countys future involving youth and education, natural resources and recreation, economy and employment, health and human services, arts and culture, and government and infrastructure.

Since 2006, a number of strategies recommended have been implemented, supported in part by funding from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the Oleson Foundation, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and others. The Foundation uses the Envision process and results to guide and maximize the impact of our endowment building and grantmaking, focusing our resources on how to further the visions and strategies developed by and for our community.
