Manistee County Community Foundation

Impact Investing Program

The Manistee County Community Foundation established an Impact Investing Program to expand our positive impact by investing more of our assets locally. Impact investments are investments made with the intention of generating both a social and financial return.

Our community’s needs far surpass what MCCF’s grantmaking alone can support. Impact investing provides additional resources and an opportunity to help our community in new ways. For example, for-profit entities are not eligible to apply for grant support from the Foundation. However, through impact investing we can help support the small business community, in addition to nonprofits, to positively impact our community’s quality of life and address underlying sources of inequity.

The MCCF Board of Directors approved an initial impact investment pool of $1.5 million in December 2022, which was about 5% of MCCF’s investment portfolio at that time. While any investments that further the Foundation’s mission to enhance the quality of life in Manistee County are considered, MCCF has prioritized investments that will help address some of Manistee County’s greatest challenges such as affordable housing, child care, education, and mental health.
